Clinical Nurse Unit Manager - Opal Lane (FBM)

Position Overview

Clinical Nurse Unit Manager – Opal Lane (SOCH):
The Clinical Nurse Unit Manager is responsible for coordinating the clinical activities of the nursing unit. In accordance with the current Federal, State and local standards, guidelines and regulations, the Clinical Nurse Unit Manager will ensure optimal quality of care.

REPORTS TO:
Director of Nursing

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Staff Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants

SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM):

EDUCATION:
· Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
· Current New York State license as a RN required.
· Associates Degree in Nursing is required.
· Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
· One (1) year previous charge nurse in LTC or acute care setting required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
· Communication, organization and leadership skills.
· Communication skills which may be inclusive of approach, tone of voice, speed of communication, respectfulness and non verbal communication.
· Application of the assessment into the aging process.
· Incorporates knowledge of age related physical and mental changes in performing technical skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Intermittent sitting, standing, walking.
· Mental stress.
· Potential for disagreeable working conditions due to odors, communicable diseases, infections and possible injuries from residents and/or supplies.
