Position Overview

Clinical Nurse Unit Manager - Subacute (SFW):
The Subacute Clinical Nurse Unit Manager is responsible for coordinating the clinical activities of the Subacute unit. In accordance with the current Federal, State and local standards, guidelines and regulations, the Subacute Clinical Nurse Unit Manager will ensure optimal quality of care.

REPORTS TO:
Director of Nursing

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Staff Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants

SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM):

EDUCATION:
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
- Current New York State license as a RN required.
- Associate Degree in Nursing required.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
- One year previous sub-acute nursing experience and/or one year acute med/surg experience required.
- One year unit manager experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
- Communication, organization and leadership skills.
- Communication skills which may be inclusive of approach, tone of voice, speed of communication, respectfulness and non verbal communication.
- Application of the assessment into the aging process..
- Incorporates knowledge of age related physical and mental changes in performing technical skills.
- IV therapy - Central line management.
- Cardio- pulmonary assessment skills necessary, demonstrated competencies will be required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Intermittent sitting, standing, walking.
- Mental stress.
- Potential for disagreeable working conditions due to odors, communicable diseases, infections and possible injuries from residents and/or supplies.



ENVIRONMENT:
- Normal heat, light space, and safe working environment; typical of most office jobs.
- Occasional exposure to one or more mildly unpleasant physical conditions.
